Is the case brought pursuant to WIC Code Section 676?
(California Welfare & Institutions Code § 676 establishes that juvenile court hearings are generally closed to the public, unless the minor and their parent or guardian request otherwise, or unless a judge determines that someone has a direct and legitimate interest in the case. However, hearings involving any of more than two dozen specified serious offenses where criminal hearings involve youth are open to the public).
If you are the youth or the youth’s parent or guardian, do you request a Court Watcher at a non-Section 676 hearing?
Was the attorney privately hired or appointed by the court?
